Ground Flax Seed - The Key to Feeling Full on the Raw Food Diet

I have heard many people say that they would eat 100% raw food if they could just feel satisfied after a meal. While some add more avocados, and nuts, we have found that a few tablespoons of fresh ground flax seed gives that full feeling. The flax seed provides for fat in our diet.

Dr. Johanna Budwig, another pioneer in the natural foods movement, wrote a book is another testimony to us that the Creator knew what he was doing when he created fats in living plants. That these fats in their pristine state (i.e. the way He created them) are necessary to the body. Budwig suggests the proper way to press the flax oil and the way to store it after pressing. It must be refrigerated. She suggests that if one uses flax seed and grinds it, it must be consumed within ten minutes as the fat tends to get rancid immediately. Flax oil properly pressed and refrigerated is not even available in some areas (sometimes at health food stores and sometimes not) and is very expensive! Flax seed stores well for many years and contains the proteins and fibers that are needed to prepare the oil for absorption by the body. We appreciate the knowledge of this ‘complex’ miracle that Johanna has provided in her book.

A great recipe for taking your daily dose of ground flax seed:

 “KK’s Flax Seed Shake”

2 cups freshly squeezed Orange Juice

2 Tablespoons freshly ground Flax Seed

1 Banana

Blend, and enjoy!
